Self-Revelation I Am Who I Am

Self Revelation – I Am Who I AM

In 2010, I embarked on an extraordinary journey of self-discovery, ignited by the burning question: “Who Are You?” Specifically, I sought to understand my identity as a woman. Despite fulfilling numerous roles – wife, sister, daughter, friend, girlfriend, co-worker, and partner – I felt a void within, a yearning to unearth my true identity.

The Beginning

I am blessed to have been successful in several career paths. In the beginning, despite success in various careers spanning entrepreneurship for 24 years, doubt clouded my view of myself , my gifts, and my talents. Placing faith in a job as a gateway to freedom and prosperity seemed the logical path, until it became clear that it wasn’t aligned with my purpose. The road to self-discovery twisted unexpectedly, with hurdles and challenges blocking the way.

The Detour

In March 2008, I assumed the role of Project Manager on a Litigation Support government contract. On December 11, 2009, as I awoke with excitement to implement new strategies for departmental enhancement, little did I know a hurdle that awaited. Despite the daily roadblocks at work, I held a meeting with my team, filled with anticipation for the positive changes ahead. The meeting concluded triumphantly, with my team embracing the proposed plans, and optimism coursing through my veins.

The detour arrived on that same day, when despite my efforts to improve departmental performance, a sudden layoff shattered my illusions. This was a major blow because I was at the height of my career close to earning six figures. The hurdle suddenly turned into boulder that I was unsure how to get around. Yet, within that adversity lay a revelation. It marked the end of one chapter in the corporate world and the beginning of a new phase of growth.

The Revelation

My career in litigation support spanned about 13 years. I started as a Data Entry Coder and my goal was to become a Project Manager. That goal was realized in 2008. I took something potentially negative “being laid off” and used it to measure my growth and to pivot.

The first thing I realized was that I had completed my journey in the corporate world. I successfully reached my goal. It is important to recognize when seasons end, so we can prepare for what’s next. We are ever evolving and must be ready to embrace the next leg of our journey.

Don’t get ready. Stay Ready!

A Wise Man

The layoff, though initially a financial blow as a single mother of three, revealed itself as a blessing in disguise. It freed me from the confines of a job that drained my spirit and consumed my time, leaving little room for the joys of motherhood. While it provided financial stability, it failed to nurture my sense of purpose or enrich the lives of my children. The mounting stress from the job even took a toll on my health, manifesting in high blood pressure—a clear sign that change was imperative in my life.

The Opportunity

Out of adversity arose opportunity. Rebuilding my web design businesses and delving into life coaching became my focus. Through courses and certification, Yes You Can Today Christian Life Coaching was born. Over the past 14 years it has blossomed into The Life Calling Coach. The ultimate fulfillment of purpose! Narrowing the focus to self-development, spiritual healing, and publication design. I am living on purpose and not by accident as God uses me to guide others on their journey to self-discovery.
